Document Q

13 October 2015

Document Q is an update to the Building Regulations that comes into force on 1st October 2015. It specifically refers to the security of windows and doors.

We take security very seriously at Britannic and know the importance it holds for our customers when buying our products. That’s why, in our range, we offer products that hold such security accreditations as PAS24 and Secured By Design.

It is these hard won accreditations that mean our products are ready for ‘Document Q’ and the changes it will bring to the housing and home improvement sector.

What ‘Document Q’ Entails

The specific stipulations of ‘Document Q’ are that newly installed windows and doors must offer a ‘reasonable’ resistance to any physical attack from a casual or opportunist burglar. The windows and doors must offer sufficient robustness and be fitted with appropriate hardware.

The Liniar casement and tilt and turn ranges both meet this requirement and also offer a flush sash window that hold both PAS24 and ‘Secured by Design’ status.

Not only do our uPVC windows provide superior levels of security but our uPVC doors are designed with security in mind as well. Our complete residential doors, French doors and composite doors ranges all offer the security standards set out in ‘Document Q’.
